Fidelity Federal Credit Union, formely known as Circle 10 Federal Credit Union, was chartered May 25, 1961 by a small group of hourly General Motors-Doraville, GA employees. They liked the credit union concept of “People Helping People”, the fact that credit unions are owned by their members, and the members have a voice in the election of the volunteer Board of Directors.

They began doing business with one employee in the basement of the UAW Local 10 Union Hall using a cigar box for deposits and withdrawals. Their primary goal was to provide better rates on savings and loans for people of modest means. For many years, loans were granted upon seniority.

The next location was known as “the little white house”, and there were four employees. In the late seventies, Fidelity FCU moved into a new building on New Peachtree Road in Doraville with services such as a drive-thru and an ATM program. After losing that building to the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority in 1988, Fidelity moved to the present location at 2845 Clearview Parkway in Doraville, GA in February of 1989.

Fidelity FCU remained a Single Occupational Sponsor credit union until the mid-eighties. At that time, the Board of Directors decided to expand the field of membership to include other sponsor employee groups.

In an effort to ensure viable growth for the credit union due to the planned closing of the General Motors Plant, the National Credit Union Administration approved our application to change our name to Fidelity Federal Credit Union and to change to a community charter serving persons who live, work, worship, volunteer and attend school as well as businesses and other legal entities in the City of Sandy Springs, Georgia. Fidelity Federal Credit Union will continue to provide new and existing members with the highest level of service. Our philosophy is “Once a Member, Always a Member”.

Fidelity FCU had grown to become a full service financial institution with more than 7600 members and assets of over $34,000,000 as of year-end 2006.
